Seeds - Soil

The symbiotic relationship between seeds and soil stands as a reference for the cultivation of both the mind and the earth. Soil is necessary for the seed to grow; and without the seed, the soil loses its true purpose. Both connect us to history, leaving behind clues reflected in art and literature.

Looking at the relationship between seeds and soil as a metaphor for psychological and physical processes, three artists—Ashley Hagen, Emily Sudd, and Elizabeth Tinglof—will execute ideas and actions connected to birth, growth, and renewal. Two apt phrases will guide the artists’ approach to the work in the exhibition: “tended the soil” and “planted the seeds”.
